Nine More States Join Ad Tech Lawsuit Against Google
Google’s legal challenges have taken another turn for the worse, with nine additional states joining the DOJ’s lawsuit against the company.
The Department of Justice and eight states filed suit against Google in January, claiming the company has abused its dominance in the ad tech industry.
“Today’s complaint alleges that Google has used anticompetitive, exclusionary, and unlawful conduct to eliminate or severely diminish any threat to its dominance over digital advertising technologies,” Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said at the time. “No matter the industry and no matter the company, the Justice Department will vigorously enforce our antitrust laws to protect consumers, safeguard competition, and ensure economic fairness and opportunity for all.”
The states that originally joined the lawsuit include California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Virginia.
According to Reuters, Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Washington and West Virginia have now joined the lawsuit.
