Mobile World Congress 2021 Delayed Until Late June

Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021 has been delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

MWC is the premier event for the mobile world, giving users a glimpse of the advancement mobile phone makers are working on. It’s especially important for smaller manufacturers, giving them an opportunity to generate buzz and excitement for their upcoming models.

MWC 2020 was canceled in the early days of the pandemic as one big vendor after another pulled out over health concerns. Originally slated for March, MWC 2021 has now been postponed until June 28 – July 1. The precaution is likely being taken, at least in part, because of plans for the conference to have in-person attendance.

“With a continuously changing global outlook and following consultation with our board and membership and our top exhibitors, we have taken the careful decision to reschedule MWC21 Shanghai in February, and MWC21 Barcelona in June,” said Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA. “The health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees, staff and the people of Barcelona are of paramount importance.”

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of all our partners and clients who remain dedicated to ensuring MWC21 Barcelona is a success,” added John Hoffman, CEO GSMA Ltd. “MWC is more than just an event. It’s an experience that brings the whole industry together and provides a platform to unlock the power of connectivity so that people, industry and society thrive.”
