Michigan-Based Niowave Preps $20 Million Expansion in Lansing

Niowave, the medical isotope maker, is eyeing a $20 million expansion in the Lansing, Michigan area, one that will bring additional jobs with it.

Niowave’s tech is used in diagnostics and cancer treatments. According to Lansing State Journal, the company is planning to expand its Lansing-area facility after considering a number of other options.

“Niowave chose mid-Michigan as home nearly 20 years ago because of the unique combination of science and advanced manufacturing talent,” Niowave President Mike Zamiara said in the news release. “We made the right decision then and are excited to expand here now.”

Governor Gretchen Whitmer said the company chose Lansing in large part as a result of the talent pool in the area. Niowave plans to tap into that talent pool even more, adding 35 “high-wage” technical jobs.

The expansion is being helped by a $500,000 “performance-based” grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
