With all that’s going on, who couldn’t use some good cheer? Nothing helps elevate your spirits more than connecting, contributing, and helping others. That’s why WebDevStudios (WDS) is super stoked about our next Five for the Future happening tomorrow, March 27, 2020.
Interested in connecting with the WordPress community and giving back? You’re welcomed to join us. Here’s a look at some of the contributions our team will be making on Friday.
- Justin Foell, Engineering Manager: “Gutenberg!”
- Cameron Campbell, Creative Lead: “I’m going to be working on JS for my UX writing site. I also just got access to the WordPress.org Figma group so will be looking at open UI/UX design tickets around Gutenberg.”
- Cristina Holt, Director of Project Management: “WordCamp US planning, continuing education, and finishing WDS documentation.”
- Oliver Harrison, Frontend Engineer: “Trying to get my WP-Inspire into a functioning state!”
- Michael Joseph Panaga, Backend Engineer: “WordPress core contribution.”
- Dave Romsey, Backend Engineer: “I’d like to contribute to getting the new WDS Coding Standards working better in Windows and VS Code.”
Make sure you’re following WDS on Twitter, and on Friday, keep up with the hashtag #5ftf. We use it to tag our contributions. We’re really looking forward to the boost in our spirits that Five for the Future brings us each month. Looking for ways to participate in this WordPress initiative? Read “Five Ways to Contribute to WordPress Five for the Future” for inspiration.
Our last Five for the Future Friday was February 28, 2020. Take a look at what our team accomplished.
It’s #5ftf day again. @webdevstudios gave me the time and resources to learn more #reactjs and #gutenberg stuff the past few weeks. So for this month’s #5ftf, i’ll try to contribute in #gutenberg to solidify my new knowledge. Contributing while learning is WIN-WIN!

It’s another #5FTF here at @webdevstudios & @maintainn. Today I’m working on some Gutenberg training as well as touching up my Category Disclaimer plugin and if there’s time left, my World Builder plugin. So many ideas! #wordpress #gutenberg #javascript

#5ftf at @webdevstudios so i’m working on catching up on drafting a few blog posts and *finally* getting around to putting together a plugin to help archive my podcasts in #wordpress

It’s #5FTF thanks to @webdevstudios for giving all us the day to give back to the community that gives to us!

Going to work on a couple Gutenberg blocks for WP-Strava today – #5FTF is one of the best fringe benefits @webdevstudios offers. 🚴♂️🏃♀️🥰

🔥 It’s #5ftf again. One might think that stands for Five For the Friday (although that has a nice ring to it), it’s Five For the Future, and @WebDevStudios is sponsoring our time today as we contribute to the greater WordPress community. Today I’m sharpening my Gutenberg skills!

Oh, hey! It’s another #5ftf day at @webdevstudios! Today I’m working on getting to know and marginally improving the OOPS-WP framework that makes customizing WordPress even easier! https://t.co/3Rve6fHIVO

It’s a good day for #5FTF at @webdevstudios working on the wd_s npm upgrade and coding standards with @aubreypwd! Plus, a nice work date and vegetarian Frito pie burgers. pic.twitter.com/4UTeqZRSTM

Thanks to @WebDevStudios I’m spending the day contributing to open source. I just fixed a bug and released a new version of my WordPress sanitize_title() in JavaScript. #5ftf
Hat tip to @mattradford for reporting the bug and the fixhttps://t.co/AN7TO2fvMj

It’s been a fun WordCamp planning kind of day thanks to @webdevstudios #5ftf First up was WordCamp/KidsCamp Calgary and now it’s time to plan for Contributor Day at WCUS. Hope to see some of you at one or the other this year!

Another successful #5ftf @webdevstudios. I collaborated with @aubreypwd to finish up getting some coding standards setup on the WDS Block Starter plugin. Then I helped other engineers on their Gutenberg projects. I’ve got 99 problems but linter errors ain’t one. pic.twitter.com/yeahaON11K
