From Brad Williams, CEO
Ten years ago this month, I packed up my entire life in Indiana and moved to New Jersey to officially start WebDevStudios (WDS). With a couple of laptops, an internet connection, and a coffee table, WDS was born! It feels like a lifetime ago and yet it feels like yesterday. When we started WebDevStudios, we had one goal—build amazing websites. At the time, I had no idea open-source would have such an impact on everything we do.
Early on, we discovered WordPress as a great tool for powering websites. We quickly realized WordPress was the future and far more than just a blogging platform. The endless flexibility, ease of use, passionate community, and focus on giving back were all areas that lined up with our goals as a company.
I’m still in awe that 10 years later, we have grown WDS from a coffee table startup to a leading WordPress agency working with some of the biggest brands in the world. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our team. From past to present, we pride ourselves on working with smart, passionate, and dedicated individuals who want to make the web a better place. Today, WDS has an amazing team of ultra-talented, hard-working individuals that truly care about our clients and products.
It’s impossible to predict where the web will go in the next 10 years. One thing I do know is that WebDevStudios will be leading the charge on the front lines creating amazing website experiences for years to come.
From Lisa Sabin-Wilson, COO
Roughly 15 years ago, I started working with the WordPress platform, both for myself and for friends who became eventual clients. For the next decade, my business grew into a flourishing freelance career where I designed and developed WordPress websites for an untold amount of people and companies, and used my experience with the platform to write several books on the software. WordPress has defined my entire career for the past 15 years and I’ve really loved every step of the way.
In 2012, I approached Brad Williams about the prospect of merging our two companies: eWebscapes and WebDevStudios. WDS had the development chops that complemented my design chops in a pretty fantastic way, and a huge bonus was that WDS had the beginnings of an infrastructure in place that I was in desperate need of as a freelancer. I have said often, and will continue to say forevermore, that my decision to merge with Brad and WebDevStudios was the best professional decision I could have made.
We are celebrating 10 years as a company! In my day-to-day, I am repeatedly impressed with the amount of talent, passion, and dedication shown by our team, in every department. From Engineering to Project Management to Marketing & Sales and HR—I am regularly inspired and impressed by the amazing group we have working here. Ten years couldn’t have happened without them, and I couldn’t imagine doing it without them.
On this 10-year anniversary celebration, I give a huge shout out, first, to Brad Williams for being open-minded, creative and risking the chance of opening his company up to me six years ago. Second, a shout out to our amazing team. You keep me in smiles, laughter, and humility every single day. Please don’t change a thing! Here’s to 10 more!
