AWS Scores Ferrari as Cloud, Machine Learning and AI Customer

AWS and Ferrari have entered an agreement that will see the former become Ferrari’s official cloud, machine learning and AI provider.

There may be few things that seem as diametrically opposed as car racing and cloud computing but, like many industries, automakers are increasingly relying on the cloud, machine learning and AI to help design and test vehicles. Ferrari plans to do just that, relying on AWS for success with its racing division, as well as its road cars department.

For Ferrari, choosing AWS was a natural fit, given the tech giant’s status as the leading cloud provider in the world.

Ferrari will use AWS for advanced analytics, machine learning, AI and more to more quickly analyze car designs and performance. Using AWS Graviton2-based instances will deliver up to 40% better price performance over traditional methods. Migrating to the cloud will also allow Ferrari to run thousands of simulations concurrently, further accelerating research and development.

As part of the deal the AWS logo will appear on the team’s car and driver’s apparel, beginning at the French Grand Prix this weekend.
